Latest Investment at Pressure Tech!

At the end of June there was lots of activity in the Pressure Tech Ltd machine shop with the arrival of our latest investment! The first part of the mammoth task was to temporarily move outside three of our existing machines and a bar feed to make a path for our new Doosan SMX 2100 series machine. Once the new machine was in, the original machines were then put back in place and connected up.

Why did we opt for the SMX 2100? This machine really packs a punch with tool to tool changes in 1.8 seconds, and chip to chip changes in 7.8 seconds. Tools can be loaded into its carousel even if the machine is still running to reduce downtime between set-ups, and worn tooling can be replaced without having to stop the machine.

The key advantage of the SMX is its ability to efficiently handle large batch runs, which is critical for us as we look to match our output inline with our record-breaking order intake. The SMX's barfeed accommodates up to 2.1 meter length bar, with the ability to load 6+ 2.1 meter bar lengths for lights-out operations... which we plan on doing lots of!
